This means that you
are trained to absolute zero-equipment as enforced in Great Britain by most
climbers and the BMC. If this is the case, we must confess that France has not
much to offer, except in the high mountains. Therefore you might be wise in
choosing, either to keep to Britain or to try Norway or some parts of North
America not yet polluted by in place protections.
Nevertheless, some French crags might meet your aethic requirements:
- Pen-Hir and the surrounding marine crags.
- In summer, most of the medium altitude crags in the Aiguilles de
Chamonix.
- Mountains of Corsica, especially Bavella
- The highest walls of the Vercors such as Archiane,
provided you avoid the most classical routes where there is a serious hazard of
finding in place protection, although usually of questionable solidity.
- The Devenson crags in the
Calanques massif.
- The Rieutord crags in the Caroux
massif.
